In the parliamentary elections in 1992 Sanyang stood as a candidate for the National Convention Party (NCP) in the constituency of Western Foni for election. He won the constituency ahead of BL Kuti Sanyang (PPP) and Momodou L. Bojang (PDP). He became the constituency representative in parliament. In the 1997 parliamentary elections that followed , Sanyang did not run.
