Ibrahim Na'imeddin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ibrahim Na'imeddin (* 1695 in Timisoara ; †?) Was an Ottoman author . His main work is "The Garden of the Faith Martyrs of the Border".

He comes from a border guards family from Timisoara, which he left after the conquest by troops of the Austrian emperor in 1716. He continued his life in the service of high dignitaries (Muhsinzade Abd Allah Paşa, Ghazi al-Hadjdj Husayn Paşa, Na'ili Abd Allah Paşa) as a divan secretary ( katib ). His work was published in 1744, which he expanded again in 1764.

His book is based on Mehmed Raşid , but he has added his own experiences, biographical information from his employers, Koran verses, stories from the life of the Prophet Mohammed and his contemporaries, as well as oral traditions from the Hungarian border region. A contemporary history of the Ottoman Empire from 1682 to 1744 he has taken from the Tarih-i Raşid (Eng. "Chronicle of Raschid") almost literally. From Derviş Aşık Hasan he used the story of the fall of Budapest (1686) and Belgrade (1688), as well as the siege of Timisoara (1688–1690). My own poems complete the work.

He also wrote a short didactic guide ( pend name ). The date and place of his death are not known.
