Ichiro Abe
Ichirō Abe ( Japanese安 部 一郎, * 1922 ) is a Jūdō teacher (10th Dan ) of the oldest Jūdō school, the Kōdōkan .
Abe settled in France for a long time as part of a campaign to promote Kōdōkan in Europe, first in 1951 in Toulouse and from 1954 in Paris . He is one of the fathers of this school in France. The founding of the French Kōdōkan Association ( Union Fédéral Française d'Amateurs de Judo Kodokan ) in 1956 goes back to him . He also initiated the first championship in this sport in the same year.
His most famous quote is: "If you get thrown six times, get up seven times!"
