Id response

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Id reaction is out of date and describes an allergic skin reaction.

This is an antigen- antibody reaction in the course of infections. Mostly it is caused by viruses, bacteria or fungi. The area with the skin appearance does not have to be the originally infected area. The actual infection can be in a different part of the body or in a different organ system. From there, antibodies and antigens can be transported hematogenously (i.e. via the blood) to other parts of the body. The Id reaction can take the form of erythroderma (reddening of the entire body skin with an area greater than 90%).
