Ignacio Uriarte

Ignacio Uriarte (* 1972 in Krefeld ) is a Spanish artist.

Life

From 1992 to 1995 Uriarte studied business administration at the European Business Academy Madrid and the University of Cooperative Education Mannheim. He then worked for companies such as Siemens, Canon, Interlub and Agilent Technologies in various positions and locations in Germany, Spain and Mexico. At the same time, he studied audiovisual art at the Centro de Artes Audiovisuales in Guadalajara, Mexico from 1998 to 2001 . In November 2003 he quit his last office job and has since devoted himself to “conceptual office art”. From 2004 to 2006 he was Artist in Residence in Hangar Barcelona. He has lived and worked in Berlin since 2007.

Ignacio Uriarte is known for his work, for which he uses utensils from the banal world of everyday office life. The repetition of casual gestures and the decontextualization of the materials used result in works that refer to Minimal Art and Conceptual Art of the 1960s and 1970s in terms of form and content .
