Iken (Suffolk)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iken is a small village in the marshland of the English county of Suffolk .

It is near the mouth of the River Alde and the North Sea southeast of Snape and north of Sudbourne and Orford.

"The Anchorage" is probably where the Abbey of Saint Botolph was, which is said to have stood from 654 to 870 in a place called "Ikenhoe" (probably Iken).
