Il marche seul is a 1994 on the album leur dire Allez published song of the French reggae - musician Tonton David . It's about a homeless man in Paris .

text

The lyrics tell of a protagonist wandering around Paris without a destination and without a permanent residence. He walks around incessantly and is uncertain where to sleep in the evening. In winter and summer he sleeps in parks or in elevator shafts.

He doesn't remember his age, but he does remember his expectations of Paris. He thought that he could realize his dreams there, in the “ville lumière où tout est permis”.

He is guided by aimlessness and disorientation, he has “Aucun but précis, aucune idée fixe” (“No specific goal, no fixed idea”). He wanted to work but couldn't find a job. At the end it becomes clear that he does not want to beg out of principle and pride.
