The relationships between the Ilariidae family and other Vombatimorphia families are still largely unclear. The Ilariidae family includes only three species in two genera, all from the late Oligocene. These are Ilaria illumidens TEDFORD, WOODBURNE, 1987, Ilaria lawsoni TEDFORD, WOODBURNE, 1987 and Kuterintja ngama PLEDGE, 1987a.
