Ili-ippašra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ili-ippašra is a Kassite official who is known from two letters from Nippur . These letters are addressed to Illijah, the governor of Nippur. Ilī-ippašra calls him brother, which, however, does not have to mean an actual relationship, but was also a common form of address among peers. The letters were probably sent from Dilmun and date under Burna-buriaš II (around 1360 BC to 1333 BC). One of them starts with the formula: Inzak and Meskilak , the gods of Dilmun, may protect your life. The letters are of particular importance as they show that Dilmun was under Kassite rule at the time. Ilī-ippašra was probably the governor in Dilmun.
