In the coffee house , the historical name for the half-timbered house is Burggraben 8-10 in the Bensberg district of Bergisch Gladbach in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district .
history
The building was built in 1715 as a rectangular half-timbered house with a slightly protruding upper floor. It was first mentioned in a document in the list of homage in 1731 under the then host Jakob Stern as being in the coffee house . The building permit carried the note "Permission to build a dwelling."
With the construction of Schloss Bensberg there was an increase in the population. This created inns that could be visited. This also included the coffee house. In the 19th and 20th centuries there were extensions with residential and utility rooms. The restaurant has been run by the Wermelskirchen family as the Gasthaus Wermelskirchen since 1889 .

The building is registered as architectural monument no. 57 in the list of architectural monuments in Bergisch Gladbach .
