ImageReady is a utility program included with the Adobe Photoshop image processing program. It can be called up directly from Photoshop and is mainly used for editing or providing web graphics. ImageReady has been part of Photoshop since 1999 (version 5.5 or higher) and has undergone minor changes over the years. Since the Photoshop CS3 version, the functionality of ImageReady has been partially integrated into Photoshop. Some functions - such as rollover effects - have been discontinued with the integration into Photoshop CS3.

Similarities and differences to Photoshop

Like Photoshop, ImageReady has a toolbar and a program menu. In many ways the functions are also identical to Photoshop, so there is, as in Photoshop, a file, filter, layer, image, selection, help and edit menu, etc. The Slices menu, however, is different in Photoshop is missing. Photoshop only has the Slices tools here. In contrast to Photoshop, the toolbar is more geared towards web matters and therefore contains certain tools that Photoshop lacks. These include: the tab rectangle tool and the oval rectangle tool , as well as the image map and slices tools. There are also certain palettes that are missing in Photoshop. a. the Imagemap palette, Optimization palette, Table palette, Web content palette, and Slices palette. You can clearly see from this that the focus is on editing web graphics.
