Imaging is a simple image viewer that was included with previous 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows . It supports the scanning of images with a scanner, the opening, editing and saving of BMP and TIFF files as well as the viewing of images in JPEG and PCX formats. The functions of the Imaging program can also be used in other applications via ActiveX .

The program was initially developed by Wang Laboratories . With the bankruptcy of this company, Kodak took over the development. The program was offered as a separate download for Windows 95 , and imaging has been an integral part of the operating system since Windows NT 4.0 . Windows Me and Windows 2000 were the last operating systems to include imaging; with Windows XP the program was replaced by the Windows picture and fax display , which offers a similar range of functions.
