The Imam Hossein University ( Persian دانشگاه امام حسین Dāneshgāh-e Emām Hossein ) is a university in northeastern Tehran . With around 6,000 students, it is one of the largest and most renowned Iranian universities. It is organized militarily and the academic training center of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian secret service.

Scientists, laboratories, and projects from the Department of Atomic Physics are also likely working on the Iranian nuclear program .

history

The college was founded in 1986 as Imam Hossein College by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. When it was founded, it had the engineering, science and social science faculties.

In 1987 the university was expanded to include the Faculty of Medical Science. This was separated in 1994 and established as part of the Baqiyatallah Medical Sciences University .
