Imke Byl (born July 6, 1993 in Gifhorn ) is a German politician from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . Since the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , she has been the youngest member of the Lower Saxony state parliament to date .

Life

In 2012, Byl passed her Abitur at the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Gifhorn . In 2012 she began studying environmental and spatial sciences at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg , which she completed as a Bachelor in 2016.

politics

She has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2013. Byl has been active in university politics since the winter semester of 2012. From 2013 to 2014 she was the spokesperson for campus.grün Lüneburg and a member of the student parliament. In 2014 she played a key role in founding the regional association campus green Lower Saxony - regional association for green and green alternative university groups. From 2013 to 2014 she was an assessor in the state board, from 2015 to March 2017 spokeswoman for the Green Youth of Lower Saxony.

Since November 20, 2017, she has been the spokesperson for the environment & energy, climate protection and women in the green parliamentary group. Her main focus is on environmental and nature conservation policy as well as university and queer policy. In addition, she is particularly committed to the participation of young people in political decision-making processes.
