In-process charging

In-process charging (also known as interim charging ) is a type of contactless energy transfer that enables automated interim charging of lithium-ion batteries in automated guided vehicles (AGV / AGV). Intermediate charging makes it possible for the energy level of the vehicles to remain at a constantly high level. This procedure eliminates the need to change batteries manually. This optimizes work processes and reduces vehicle downtimes.

At the beginning of 2020, the company Wiferion presented the world's first contactless fast charging system that enables intermediate charging with high currents.

principle

The in-process charging technology uses the principle of magnetic induction . The system usually consists of a stationary unit and mobile receiver electronics, with the stationary coil either being attached to the wall or on the floor and the mobile electronics being built into the e-vehicle. If an AGV drives to the charging point, the intermediate charging process begins fully automatically and without human intervention. Even with very short holding times, "in-process charging" is activated in less than a second, and full charging capacity is achieved immediately. The result: Fleet availability increases by up to 30%, as there are no downtimes due to charging breaks.
