In-yer-face theater

The in-yer-face theater is a type of drama that originated in Britain in the 1990s. The term was coined by the British theater critic Aleks Sierz with the title of his book "In-Yer-Face Theater: British Drama Today". In-yer-face-theater describes the work of young dramatists who bring shocking and sometimes vulgar material onto the stage in order to confront and touch their audience. According to Sierz, the big three personalities of in-yer-face theater are Sarah Kane , Mark Ravenhill and Anthony Neilson .
