The Incompatible Timesharing System ( ITS ) is a free operating system written by the hackers at the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence at MIT for the computers of the PDP-10 series from DEC . The name is a play on the Compatible Time-Sharing System (CTSS).

ITS was developed on the computer AI , which was the preferred meeting place for hackers until the beginning of the 80s .
