The Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia ( Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia ) was a rebel group at the First Liberian Civil War under the leadership of Prince Johnson participated. It was a splinter group of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) under Charles Taylor .

The INPFL became Yormie Johnson after an internal dispute with the leader of the NPFL, Charles Taylor, over his authority as the self-appointed head of the National Patriotic Reconstruction Assembly Government (NPRAG), whose alternative government was based in the city of Gbarnga in the Bong region .

Although initially estimated at a troop strength of less than 500 men, the INPFL was an important party to the conflict at the beginning of the conflict, as it controlled a number of strategic points in the capital Monrovia and the deployment of troops of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) who had come to monitor the Liberian ceasefire known as the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).

INPFL troops arrested , tortured and murdered President Samuel Doe in September 1990 . The INPFL later rubbed itself out in an internal power struggle in disputes over the level of cooperation with the transitional government, ECOMOG and the NPFL. As a result, its importance declined sharply in 1991 and the organization virtually dissolved itself in 1992.
