Inderhavnsbroen (translation: Inner Harbor Bridge ) is a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists that spans the Inner Harbor of Copenhagen . It connects the Nyhavn district to the west with the Christianshavn district to the east .
history
The bridge was opened on July 7, 2016 - three years after the planned opening date in February 2013. The insolvency of the contracted construction company initially delayed construction. It was only shortly before the actual opening that it became apparent that the moving parts of the bridge had warped due to the summer heat. As a result, they deviated from the plan by a few centimeters, so that the connection mechanism could not bring the bridge back together after an opening.
Bridge type
Due to its design, the Inderhavnsbro was nicknamed Kyssebroen ("Kissing Bridge"). When ships want to cross the port on the bridge side, the movable bridge parts are retracted and rest in the U-shaped, non-movable base of the bridge, like a tongue in a mouth. Then both parts are extended again and meet halfway - which reminded many viewers of kissing tongues.
