Indranee Rajah

Indranee Thurai Rajah ( Chinese  英 兰妮 , Tamil இந்திராணி ராஜா ; * April 12, 1963 ) is a politician of the People's Action Party (PAP) in Singapore , who has been a member of parliament since 2001 and has been a minister several times. Since 2018 she has been Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister of Finance and Second Minister of Education.

Life

After attending school, Indranee Thurai Rajah completed a law degree and began her professional career in 1987 as a lawyer at the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP . In 1988 she moved to Drew & Napier , one of Singapore's leading law firms, and became the firm's director in 1991. On October 25, 2001 she was the first time member of parliament for the People's Action Party (PAP) in the Group Representation Constituency (Group Representation Constituency) Tanjong Pagar GRC and has represented this constituency ever since. During her long membership in parliament she was a member of numerous committees and in 2003 became Senior Advisor to the President of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice of Singapore) . She acted between November 8, 2006 and October 9, 2011 as Deputy Speaker of Parliament .

On November 1, 2012, Indranee Rajah took office for the first time in the government and between November 1, 2012 and September 30, 2015 the post of Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Education in the cabinet of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong . At the same time, she acted as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice from November 1, 2012 to April 30, 2018 and as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance between October 1, 2015 and April 30, 2018 June 2018 was briefly Second Minister of Justice. As Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice, she was co-chair of the Cabinet Committee for Family Law between 2012 and 2018 and, as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, she was co-chair of the Cabinet Committee for Applied Studies in Polytechnics and Information Technology from 2012 to 2015.

Since May 1, 2018, Indranee Rajah has been Minister in the Prime Minister's Office , Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education .
