The industry standard for setting up devices for standard traffic signs ( IVZ standard for short ) is a German standard issued by the Güteschutzgemeinschaft Verkehrszeichen und Verkehrseinrichtungen eV . It applies to the erection of traffic signs including their foundations .

In 1960, the Industry Association for Traffic Signs passed “Standard Plans for the Punching and Installation of Traffic Signs” for the first time. Just one year after the publication of the IVZ standard developed from it, 60 percent of all traffic signs were ordered according to their criteria. In 1993 those responsible adapted this standard to the state of the art . Due to the introduction of RWB 2000 and the setting up of the principles for the setting up of traffic signs on federal highways through the General Circular Road Construction No. 21/2000, the IVZ standard had to be revised again. The 2007 edition is currently available.

Applications

The standard is also important for bicycle signposting in cycle traffic networks, for example for the erection and assembly of tubular posts, concrete foundations with or without ground sockets, expansion or screw foundations and the fastening of the posts with screws.
