The guidelines for signposting outside of autobahns ( RWB for short ) are a set of technical rules that are valid in Germany . The RWB regulate the design of the signposting on roads. The signposts for highways is in the guidelines for the signposting on highways ( RWBA treated). The RWB regulates the destination information, the choice of location and the design of signposts and signposts on, for example, motorway-like roads , place-name signs and place- information boards as well as street name and house number signs .

The currently valid version RWB 2000 was introduced by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing (BMMVBS) with the General Circular Road Construction No. 27/1999 of November 15, 1999.

WARC is divided into nine main sections. The first section formulates general requirements for the signposting. The second section describes the structure and elements of the signage. The system of destination information and the principles for setting up the signs are explained in sections three and four. Sections five through nine define the correct design for all appearances. The annex to the guideline deals with control plans and provides further information on the size and dimensions of the signage.
