history

In 1958, the contract galvanizing department was founded in the Sheet Steel Processing Association. In 1967 it was renamed the "Association of the German Hot-Dip Galvanizing Industry". The industrial association for hot-dip galvanizing has been in existence since 1994.

In 1958, 42 hot-dip galvanizing plants were among the founding members of the contract galvanizing department. By 1986 the number grew to 76 works. As a result of the reunification, the number of members rose to 121 plants in 1992. In the following years there was also consolidation due to an economic downturn. In 2015 the industry association had 104 members.

In 1989 the Institute for Applied Hot-Dip Galvanizing GmbH was founded, which is now called Institut Feuerverzinken GmbH. It serves as a subsidiary and service organization of the hot-dip galvanizing industry association and is active in the areas of marketing and technology for the hot-dip galvanizing industry.
