Infernal Runner is a computer game by the French publisher Loriciels from 1985, which is mainly known for its excessive display of violence. It first appeared on the Commodore 64 (authors: Michel Koell and Yves Korta), then it was converted by Eric Chahi (who later developed Another World and Heart of Darkness ) for the Schneider / Amstrad CPC .

description

The game is a Jump 'n' Run or platformer . It can also be assigned to the survival horror genre , which however only became firmly established a few years later. The game character is in a large, closed building, which is provided with deadly traps. The aim of the game is to collect various items in order to escape from the building.

While the gameplay was rated as mediocre at best by the trade press, the dying scenes of the game character were presented with a wealth of detail that was unique up to that point in the context of the computer capabilities of the time. Most players found the level of difficulty too high and the scope of the game too low. Nonetheless, the macabre content gave the game some popularity.

In Germany, Infernal Runner was indexed by the BPjS in 1987 ( Federal Gazette No. 114 on June 26, 1987); the indexing ended in May 2012 when the statutory period expired.
