The Infohaus Isarmündung is an exhibition center in the municipality of Moos that provides information about the habitat of the Isar's riparian forests . In addition to the permanent exhibitions inside the building, the characteristic features of the adjacent nature reserve mouth of the Isar were modeled in the outdoor area of ​​the information house and made accessible to visitors.

General

The information house was built in the summer of 2001 as part of the federal project for the mouth of the Isar . It houses a permanent exhibition on the Isar estuary as a living space, which can be experienced on a walk at various activity stations on the extensive outdoor area. This facility is a collaboration between the district of Deggendorf , the state association for bird protection in Bavaria , the beekeepers and the water management office under the auspices of the district office Deggendorf.

The program for environmental education is supervised by the state association for bird protection and has been awarded the quality seal for environmental education in Bavaria.

Exhibitions

Inside the information house there are exhibits on approximately 250 m² of exhibition space that show the habitats of the Isar estuary and how it was created. The focus of this exhibition is the Isar with its underwater habitats, the bird life of the meadow landscape and its water dynamics.

Outside area of ​​the Infohaus Isar estuary

The living areas of the floodplain are shown on approximately 7.7 hectares of open-air space. Here the visitor can experience the small scale recreated cultural landscape , characterized by floodplains and littered meadows as well as dry grass , and the animals and plants living in it. Birds, amphibians, reptiles, dragonflies, fish, grasshoppers, among others, can be discovered here.

The exhibition by the Deggendorf Water Management Office, “Power in the River”, deals with the history and dynamics of the Isar in terms of hydraulic engineering .

In the “House of Bees and Insects” the visitor can find out more about the life of bees, wasps and hornets, and a training apiary provides a direct insight into a beehive .
