The Federal IT Steering Unit (ISB) ( French Unité de pilotage informatique de la Confédération UPIC , Italian Organo direzione informatica della Confederazione ODIC , Rhaeto-Romanic Organ da direcziun informatica da la Confederaziun ODIC ) is a federal authority of the Swiss Confederation . It is an office of the Swiss federal administration subordinate to the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) .

Field of activity

The ISB was created on July 1, 1999 as a result of the reorganization of the Federal Administration's IT system under the name of the Federal IT Strategy Unit (ISB). As a result of the revised Federal Information Technology Ordinance (BinfV) of December 9, 2011, with the assumption of new tasks, the ISB was also renamed the Federal IT Steering Body (ISB). Peter Fischer has headed the ISB since May 1, 2007.

The ISB ensures the implementation of the information and communication technology (ICT) strategy in the federal administration. To this end, it issues specifications for the administrative units and centrally manages the ICT standard services. These are IT services that the federal administrative units require in the same or similar functionality and quality.

In addition, the IM coordinates the cooperation between the federal government, the cantons and the municipalities to implement the Swiss e-government strategy and runs the MELANI Reporting and Analysis Center for Information Assurance .
