Police information model

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Police Information Model (IMP) is a conceptual data model that represents the technically consistent core of the police IT applications of the INPOL network participants . It was developed as part of an overall XPolizei initiative - based on the Germany-Online Standardization under commission from the Standing Conference of Interior Ministers and Senators of the Federal Republic of Germany. The development took place according to the specifications of the XÖV framework.

purpose

The information model of the police is mapped in UML . It represents the police objects as aggregated core components based on the UN / CEFACT standardization. The same data definitions are used as project-specific messages in different implementations and processes. The police information model serves as a semantic core to optimize the interoperability of police IT systems. Technical derivations and transformations are based on the classes and relationships specified there.

The IMP basic model represents an object-based illustration of police-relevant artifacts such as people, events and objects. With the help of relationships, these objects are brought into an assessed context that represents the police knowledge. This type of information representation enables a flexible, yet uniform representation of facts. It has been used in police databases since the mid-1970s.

Emergence

The police information model was developed in 2009 as part of a joint project involving all participants in the German INPOL police information network under the leadership of the Federal Criminal Police Office . A consolidated core was developed based on the results of a nationwide inventory of all IT processes within the police forces. This was developed into a technically consistent draft of a comprehensive information model in the course of expert discussions. The information model is being further developed as a permanent work process within the framework of a nationwide working group of all INPOL participants.
