Initial operating capability

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Initial Operating Capability or Initial Operational Capability ( IOC ) describes the formal status of a project and is mostly used in a military context. The initial operating capability is usually considered to have been reached as soon as the product has a usable value and can therefore be delivered to the user. For example, combat aircraft initially only have limited capabilities, which are then retrofitted piece by piece. So an aircraft z. B. are initially only delivered with air-to-air capabilities, which are then expanded to include air-to-ground capabilities at a later stage of development.

If all the required properties are fully operational at a later point in time, the full operational capability is declared.
