from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Network Operators Initiative (IEN) is an association founded in 2003 and based in Berlin , which represents some of the largest telecommunications network operators operating across Europe . Members of the initiative include the German subsidiaries of BT Group , Cable & Wireless , Colt Technology Services , MCI , Tiscali and Versatel . The managing director of IEN is the Berlin lawyer Jan Mönikes.

The IEN aims to ensure that the investment conditions for telecommunications network operators in Germany are no more disadvantageous than in other European countries. Its members are international telecommunications companies that rely on the most even possible competitive opportunities.

The IEN's main focus is on providing impetus to business and politics (e.g. the Federal Government , the German Bundestag , the Federal Network Agency , the Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission ) in relation to the national telecommunications law and the international regulatory framework for the telecommunications market.
