Innsbruck ice skating club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Innsbrucker Eislaufverein (IEV) is a sports club from Innsbruck in Austria . The association was founded in 1883.

In the 1908/09 season, in addition to speed skating and figure skating, the sport of ice hockey was added, which was initially operated according to the English rules ( bandy ) and later according to the Canadian rules ( ice hockey ). Before 1913, the sport of ice hockey was canceled again by resolution of the IEV general assembly.

In 1925 the ice hockey players organized their own section that joined the ÖEHV . In the 1932/33 season , the Innsbrucker EV won the provincial championship and thus qualified for a challenge game against the Viennese champions, but this did not take place due to bad weather conditions. In the 1960s the ice hockey section was outsourced to its own club, the EV Innsbruck .
