The Austrian Ice Hockey Association (ÖEHV) is the national Austrian sports association for ice hockey and inline hockey for women and men. The ÖEHV is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the Austrian Federal Sports Organization (BSO).
history
The ÖEHV was founded in 1912 and became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation that year under the first president of the association, Gustav Feix . In 1913 Austria took part in the European ice hockey championship in Munich for the first time. The club was re-founded after the two world wars , most recently in 1945 after the remaining teams in the Bundesliga were integrated into the German Bundesliga during the Second World War .
Today's organizational structure
The ÖEHV has been responsible for all matters relating to the various national teams from the very beginning. In addition, the association organizes the various national championships down to the youth performance class. This includes various tournaments and the organization of the men's ice hockey world championship 2005 in Vienna and Innsbruck . The association for inline hockey is also part of the ÖEHV.
Up until the 2004/05 season , the Austrian Ice Hockey League was also organized as the highest national league by the ÖEHV. With the beginning of the following season, the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga separated itself as an independent legal entity and registered club from the structure of the association, which since then has only been responsible for the referees, implementation regulations and the statistics service.
Furthermore, as a link to the international ice hockey federation , the ÖEHV also processes all matters relating to the rules and regulations and forwards them to the participating clubs. The ÖEHV also processes the statistics of all championships and tournaments it hosts and makes them available to the media via the press service. Player registrations are also processed via the ÖEHV.
