Dieter Kalt sen.

Dieter Kalt senior (born June 29, 1941 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian sports functionary . He played ice hockey actively until 1980 and was later also referee and coach. From 1996 to June 25, 2016 he was President of the Austrian Ice Hockey Association . His successor was Gernot Mittendorfer . Professionally, he was District Captain of St. Veit an der Glan from 1982 until his retirement in 2006 .

In addition to his work as president of the ice hockey association, he is a member of the IIHF and the Austrian Olympic Committee , where he is chairman of the winter sports committee. In this function, he also headed the investigative commission into the doping incidents at the 2006 Winter Olympics around Walter Mayer .

In his playing career, he was for the 1957-1967 and 1969-1980 EC KAC active between he played during his study of law for the ATSE Graz . After he had finished his active career, he became a referee and worked as a coach.

Dieter Kalt is divorced and has three children. His eldest son Dieter was also an ice hockey player who played not only in Austria, but also in North America, Germany and Sweden.

In 2017, Kalt was elected to the IIHF Hall of Fame .
