Hans Dobida

Hans Dobida (born May 13, 1929 in Graz , Austria ) is an Austrian ice hockey official .

Career

The athlete with a doctorate played ice hockey and handball in Graz for the ATSE Graz , after which he was head of the ice hockey section for many years . From 1962 to 1977 he was Vice President, from 1977 to 1996 President of the Austrian Ice Hockey Association . Dieter Kalt senior succeeded him in 1996 and has been Honorary President since then. From 1986 to 2008 Dobida was a member of the IIHF Council, from 1998 to 2003 he was treasurer and was confirmed in this position for the period up to 2008. When his mandate expired, he was appointed auditor. He is also an honorary member of the Austrian Olympic Committee and board member of ATSE Graz. Dobida was also a member of the organizing committees for the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976 as well as for the Ice Hockey World Championships in Vienna in 1967 , 1977 , 1987 and 1996 .

From 1976 to 1980, Hans Dobida was the director of the Styrian regional health insurance fund .

For his services, Dobida was inducted into the Hall of Fame run by the German Ice Hockey Museum in 2004 in the “Official” category. In 2007 he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in the “Officials” category.
