Insat-3A is an Indian multi-purpose satellite used for telecommunications and television broadcasting, as well as a weather satellite and search and rescue operations. It was the third satellite launched from ISRO's Insat 3 series .
For meteorological observation, Insat-3A has a high-resolution three-channel radiometer and a CCD camera with a resolution of one kilometer.

The launch of the satellite on 9 April 2003 with an Ariane 5 - launcher from the Guiana Space Center .

reception

The satellite is equipped with a total of 25 transponders, 18 of which transmit in the C-band and extended C-band and six in the Ku-band. Another transponder is reserved for search and rescue operations supported by satellites and is part of the international COSPAS-SARSAT system . Insat-3A mainly covers the Indian subcontinent and partly the Asian region around the Indian Ocean.
