Inscriptions from Hum

The Hum inscriptions are texts in the Church of St. Jerome near the town of Hum in Istria in Croatia from the 12th to 14th centuries.

A total of 40 graffiti in the frescoes, 8 inscriptions in stone and a blackboard in Glagolitic script are known. The oldest graffito from the second half of the 12th century reports that a priest read the 30 desired masses for the soul of the late blacksmith Martin: KOVAČA MARЪTINA E SVĚ Ĵ (= 30) E VZETA INO OĆE EDNA .
