The Insel-Schlösschen at Hariksee was built in 1891 as a small villa for Bartholomäus Rosbach, the owner of Haus Clee in Waldniel ( Schwalmtal ) at the time. His father, Eduard Rosbach, came into possession of the Waldniel aristocratic residence in 1854 through marriage to Berta Marianne Roth. The Inselschlösschen was used, among other things, for hunting parties and celebrations.

The tourist development of Lake Harik as an excursion and recreational area began in the early 1920s. Since then, the Inselschlösschen on Lake Harik has been known as an excursion restaurant. Later it got a large extension. Annemarie and Paul Kruff were probably pioneers of Lake Harik tourism. (He was the first captain of the passenger ship "Patschel", which operates between the landing stages Inselschlösschen and Mühlrather Mühle .)

In March 2002 a fire destroyed most of the castle and the entire complex. In the meantime the palace has been rebuilt. There is now a restaurant pavilion next to the castle.
