As Insemination each transmission of the male is the semen in the genital tract called the woman or a female animal that does not have the path of copulation takes place. This can lead to fertilization . Insemination is the most common method of artificial insemination .

Usual methods are

• Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): Pre-treated semen is brought into the uterus .
• Intracervical Insemination (ICI): Untreated semen is brought into the cervix .
• Intrauterine Tuboperitoneal Insemination (IUTPI): Pretreated sperm is brought into both the uterus and the fallopian tubes .
• Intratubal Insemination (ITI): Pre-treated sperm is placed in the fallopian tube .
• Cup method or home insemination : donated semen is introduced into the vagina with technical aids, e.g. a syringe .

In the case of animals, we speak of artificial insemination .
