Insert material

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the textile industry, insert material is a high-quality application and incorporation of moisture barrier membranes in clothing.

A particularly high level of functionality in terms of heat regulation is achieved by loosely inserting the insert material between the outer fabric and the lining of the garment. For this purpose, the membrane is usually laminated onto a carrier material, onto a woven fabric , knitted fabric or a non-woven fabric . The outer fabric can be sewn separately with all fashionable or functional details due to the separate incorporation, the function of the membrane is not impaired by additional seams. Another advantage is that the membrane can be kept in stock by the meter.

Insert material is often used when combining warming inserts with membranes to improve insulation.
