Institute for High Energy Physics (Protwino)

The Institute for High Energy Physics ( Russian Институт физики высоких энергий ), or IHEP for short , is a Russian research institute for high energy physics in Protvino , around 130 kilometers south of the capital Moscow . It was founded in 1965 and housed since 1967 the strongest proton - Particle Russia. For the first few years, the U-70 was the most powerful synchrotron in the world.

The head of the institute is Nikolai Tyurin.

Since it is 15 km from Serpuchow , it was often named briefly after Serpukhov (Serpukhov) abroad.
