The Institute for Media and Photo Technology belongs to the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and is divided into three different areas: Media technology deals thematically with issues of media production ( video , film , sound , graphics , animation , internet ), as well as the underlying technical areas such as recording , Storage, transmission, playback (display) and system technology. Special emphasis is also placed on high definition television ( HDTV ), interactive television (iTV) and computer graphics.

In the field of photographic technique it comes to digital and analog imaging systems (Still Picture), color technology and color management , image processing and digital reproduction ( prepress ) and the associated processes. Two other focal points are the areas of radiological imaging and microlithography .

The design area of ​​the institute deals with photographic image design, audio vision and advertising photography.
