The Institute for Systems Science, Innovation and Sustainability Research (SIS) is a teaching and research institute of the Karl Franzens University in Graz , Austria . The field of activity of the SIS is located at the interface between the research fields of systems science , innovation and transition research and sustainability science .

focus

The SIS primarily deals with the question of sustainable development . The focus is on the analysis of transition, innovation and adaptation processes in human-environment systems. The institute is currently coordinating two international master ’s degree programs: The Joint Master’s degree in Sustainable Development , which is offered together with the consortium partners University of Ca 'Foscari in Venice (Italy), University of Leipzig (Germany), and University of Utrecht (Netherlands), and the Erasmus Mundus Master's Program Industrial Ecology with cooperation partners in Europe, Asia and the USA. In 2012, a doctoral school in environmental systems science was also launched.
