Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura

The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL) in Mexico City is the national institute of fine arts and literature of Mexico and was founded on December 31, 1946. Sometimes the name Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA) is also used . The seat of the institution is the Palacio de Bellas Artes .

The main focus of the institution, which has existed for well over 50 years, is the dissemination, protection and storage of the arts and cultural manifestations of Mexico and other nations, as well as research and artistic education. The tasks also include promoting knowledge of new artistic trends.

The institute has a large number of departments, artistic ensembles, three national centers for the preservation of the literary inventory, 29 schools and other facilities. One of the schools for design and handicrafts was founded in 1962 by José Chávez Morado .
