Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Uruguay)

The Instituto Nacional de Estadística [ instiˈtuto naθioˈnal de estaˈðistika ] ( INE , 'State Statistics Institute') is the Uruguayan statistical service . The task of the institute in Montevideo is to collect, compile, group and publish statistical data for the country of Bolivia. Among other things, it is also responsible for carrying out the census .

The institute was founded in 1852 as Mesa Estadística , a subdivision of the Ministerio de Hacienda (Ministry of Housing) (Decreto del 25 de noviembre de 1852). At the end of the 19th century it was renamed the Dirección de Estadística General , in 1953 the Dirección General de Estadística y Censos (Ley N ° 11.923 del 27 de marzo de 1953), since January 1, 1993 it has been called the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Art. 70 de la Ley N ° 16.320). It was partly subordinate to the Ministerio de Economía (Ministry of Economic Affairs), then the Presidencia de la República (Presidential Office) and the Oficina de Planeamiento y Presupuesto (Office for Planning and Budget). Since 1994 it has been the umbrella organization of the Uruguayan statistical system (Ley Estadística N ° 16.616).
