Instituto Nacional de Estatística (São Tomé e Príncipe)
The Instituto Nacional de Estatística ( INE ) is the sãotomesic statistical institute . Among other things, it is responsible for conducting the census . It resides on Largo das Alfandegas in the capital São Tomé .
The INE was established after the country gained independence from Portugal in 1975. It carried out its first census in 1980–1981. Further surveys followed in 1991, 2001 and 2012.
