Insurrection (Hungary)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The insurrection (ung. "Nemesi felkelés") referred to the aristocratic contingent in the Kingdom of Hungary to protect the borders and the king. In theory, it was repealed in the revolution of 1848/49 . The last insurrection, however, took place in 1741 to defend the land of Queen Maria Theresa against the invasion of Frederick II of Prussia. The term was still used during the coalition wars. In 1809 a considerable number of insurrection troops were involved in the Battle of Raab .
