Intelligent system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An intelligent system is a living or technical system capable of intelligent behavior . This includes v. a. the ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions ( adaptation ).

Intelligent systems in technology

As a result of research work in the field of artificial intelligence , the first artificially intelligent software systems have been created since the 1960s, but these fell short of their initial expectations (see: KI-Winter). Due to recent advances in machine learning through deep neural networks or deep learning , larger research projects, some of which have media impact , could again be planned and financed.

The success of robotics and mechatronics also depends on increasingly complex and intelligent software.

Intelligent systems in nature

Living things are in the broadest sense all "intelligent" to some degree. Research into the behavior of animals is subject to biology , whereby bionics wants to make this knowledge usable for technical applications.

criticism

Criticisms relate on the one hand to the reduced concept of intelligence ("intelligence is adaptability.") And on the other hand to an unclear concept of system.

Well-known systems theorists

As systems theorists, the following have explicitly or implicitly also dealt with intelligent systems:
