Intergem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Intergem is a trade fair for gemstones, gemstone jewelry and gemstone properties. It has been held in Idar-Oberstein every September / October since 1985 and serves as a presentation platform for both domestic and foreign manufacturers and dealers. Approx. 150 exhibitors take part in the event every year. The organizer is Intergem Messe GmbH .

Location

The first trade fairs in the 1980s took place in the tennis halls in the Algenrodt district, which were converted for the duration of the trade fair.

Venue of the Intergem

Since 2009, Intergem has been held in the newly built municipal trade fair in the Nahetal business park . The operating company "Intergem Messe GmbH" has its office building on the grounds of Messe Idar-Oberstein.

opening

Traditionally, the Intergem is opened by public figures. Among other things, this was the then Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 1993 .

Intergem 2008 took place from October 3rd to 6th with over 160 exhibitors. In 2016 there were only 118 exhibitors, which was explained by a general downward trend in the trade fair sector. In order to counteract this, the host company, together with the exhibitors and politicians, set up a planning group, Intergem 2020, which is to adapt the concept of the fair to the changing needs of the industry in the long term.
