International Association for Mission Studies

The International Association for Mission Studies (IAMS) is a professional international, interdenominational and interdisciplinary association for the study of biblical, theological and empirical topics of Christian mission and intercultural theology.

history

The association was founded in 1972 in Driebergen (Netherlands) at the suggestion of the German Society for Mission Studies (DGMW). It holds specialist conferences every four years (e.g. 2000 in Hammanskrall, South Africa; 2004 in Port Dickson , Malaysia; 2008 in Balaton, Hungary; 2012 in Toronto, Canada; 2016 in Seoul ).

organization

The association has more than 400 scientists from all continents. A five-person executive committee coordinates the work and directs business. Paul Kollman (Notre Dame, USA) has been chairman since 2016, while Bokyoung Park (Korea) is the vice chairman.

magazine

As the Journal , the biannual magazine is Mission Studies out that the publishing house Brill will be published (Leiden). The editor is Kirsteen Kim (USA).
