IAPSO
The IAPSO (short for I nternational A ssociation for the P hysical S ciences of the O Ceans ) is the international association of Oceanography . It is one of the eight member societies of the international geoscientific union IUGG .
Oceanography already became a section of geophysics before 1930. The 15th IUGG General Assembly in 1971 in Moscow upgraded it to one of the seven associations of the Union at the time.
The IAPSO promotes research on all marine science phenomena , including through specialist conferences and discussions, comparative studies, international research projects and by supporting relevant publications.
