The International Biometric Society (IBS) (German Internationale Biometric Gesellschaft ) is an international professional and academic society . It is dedicated to the development and application of statistical and mathematical theories and methods in the life sciences . The company was founded in Massachusetts in 1947 . Its first president was Ronald Fisher .

Regions

The society is organized in numerous regions , which usually organize regular meetings of their own. The Austria-Switzerland region as well as the German and Polish regions founded the higher-level Central European Network (CEN) in 2008 , to which other regions now belong.
